Raffia Wrapped Jar Centerpieces
April 12, 2012 in Gettin' Crafty
I’ve been a bad, bad blogger. Completely sporadic and unreliable. Ugh. I hate that. Just been so busy with work, life and all that fun grown-up stuff. I don’t know how those of you with kids balance it all. I struggle just with 3 dogs and a horse!
So I wanted to share a quick and easy thing I made for my sister’s wedding in Florida. She found a picture she liked online and we did our best to recreate some raffia-wrapped mason jars for centerpieces:

They were so simple that I almost feel funny blogging about it. I rounded up an assortment of jars from some local thrift stores (and my cabinets). Then I snagged a bag of raffia from Wal-Mart. I couldn’t find a good natural-looking spool at Michaels… they all looked dyed. So instead I went with the good ol’ cluster bag. I was worried it’d be hard to work with, but it turned out to be easier than expected. Working with a couple strands at a time, I wrapped them tightly and hot glued them around the jars. I found that I only really needed to glue the ends. Everything else stayed in place when it was wrapped snuggly. Woop!

The flowers were ordered through Sams.com (Crazy gorgeous right!?). My sisters spent a couple hours cutting and arranging them before the wedding. They were so pretty – we hated to leave them at the beach house when we left!
…and one last parting shot. Check out my super cute nephew Thomas hanging out in the background. Man I love that lil’ guy. He looked so dapper in his bowtie get-up.

I promise (to try) to do better at blogging regularly. I want to get back to a regular schedule. Life’s all about balance, right? I just need to find my balance and keep moving forward.
…….and yes, my guest bath toilet is STILL sitting in the shower. Don’t judge me. Dad’s coming up the last weekend of April and that sucker is going back where it belongs!
