Spilling my secret…
December 19, 2012 in Get the D-Tails, Snapshots

Want to hear a secret?
…or maybe it’s more like a confession…
I haven’t worn “appropriate” socks in 3 days.
Yes… 3 days.
What do I mean by appropriate? Well….
Monday I got dressed… leggings and a sweater tunic zip-up thingamajig (that I need to give back to my sister Karen but I HATE to part with it). I wanted to wear my tall, grey suede boots… but I couldn’t find matching boot socks. So what did I do? I searched for 5 minutes and gave up. Plan B. Yup, I totally wore short, white, ‘no-show’ athletic socks. It wasn’t ideal, but it worked.
Tuesday I got dressed… lightweight sweater, skinny jeans and comfy, fuzzy boots. Realized I had NO matching boot socks because, well, hellooooo I didn’t think to do LAUNDRY Monday night. So I did the next best thing… I scrounged up two CLEAN (their only redeeming quality) MISMATCHED socks. That’s right ladies and gents…. between you and I… I was totally sporting a pink and grey polka-dot sock on one foot and a striped red and green (think ELF) sock on the other.
Truth be told… my feet got hot in my comfy, fuzzy boots. Normally I’d just kick my shoes off at my desk… but not yesterday. Oh nooo… You see – my coworkers know I’m crazy… hopefully in an endearing-Dana sort of crazy (or at least that’s how I justify my odd-ball behavior)… but those socks just might put me over the edge. They might go from thinking “oh that’s just Dana humming ‘Sleigh Ride’ and throwing 7 kinds of smoke in the hallway” to “Whoa. That girl has OFFICIALLY lost it.”
Yep… my socks might just put me over the edge. From ‘quirky’ to ‘completely lost it’.
…and Wednesday? Well, what do you think? Of course I didn’t do laundry last night. Today I sported skinny jeans, a hooded sweatshirt and my brown tall boots. …and under those boots?
mismatched.
socks.
Do I get credit if they were both argyle?

No? Ok, okay… it doesn’t matter. They’re still not right. I get it.
Time to put my big girl pants on and do some laundry…
…maybe tomorrow night.
What’s the point of this post? Hmmm – good question. Maybe it’s my long-winded way of saying this week feels PACKED. So packed that I can’t even seem to scrounge up a matching pair of socks.
Am I the only one that feels like Christmas snuck up this year? Feeling a hair frantic? Like you know you should be wrapping presents… but there are also 138 other things on your To-Do list that also need to be done like-yesterday.
Sigh… I can’t wait for Christmas… maybe I’ll get some matching socks from Santa!

It was definitely a family event… I might even venture to say that only about 1/3 of the people (if that) were actually running it. But that’s okay! It was kind of fun weaving my way in, out and around people as we jogged along. Took me back to my days of playing with micromachines and zipping them around. Don’t act surprised that I played with Micro-machines…. Normalcy has never been my thing.
I want to take a second to say a HUGE Thank you to Danieal and Lynn for pushing me every day to run harder and further. You girls are AWESOME!
