The Good, The Bad and the Meh… Wood Dish Wall Art
October 3, 2012 in Gettin' Crafty, Wall Decor

Just keeping it real… I’m not in love with this guy, but we’re learning how to live together…
You see…. when I first met him, he was young and fresh. He was bold and had SO much potential. A head turner…
But I changed him… and unfortunately I don’t think it was for the better.
Now he just seems so…. dark. He’s lost his edge. He blends now when he used to pop.
I mean… I guess at least he fits in well in his surroundings, but looking back – I think I liked him better when he was his own man. A stand-out guy.
See what I mean?
The change… it was not for the better. I should have just left him as he was. Maybe just given him a little coat of protection.
Sigh…
But he’s found a spot in my home. Not quite in my heart… but he’s here now and we’re going to see how it goes.

Have you ever finished a project… only to wish you hadn’t changed it in the first place? Please say I’m not the only one! This wood dish wall art could have been SO much better!

Well, I have to agree with you, he was better before. BUT….he looks great where he is. He wouldn’t have looked good there in the lighter wood. Just my humble opinion. I’ve never seen anything you’ve done that didn’t turn out good!
I think I’m going to disagree with you here. I like him darker! It makes the piece seem aged and weathered. I’m kind of a sucker for dark wood, though. I bet it’ll grow on you!
I love your gallery wall! I need to come back and pin when I’m not on my phone!
I like it better stained. It has a nice rustic, industrial, farmhousy feel to it.
The before reminds me a gift basket some lotion came in that grandmas set on the back of their toilets and never take out of the packaging. Huge improvement.
You literally crafted a niche. Bonus points on that one.
